Top therapists in Illinois accepting new patients
Hi and Welcome! I’m Lisa, and I’m so glad you’ve taken this next step on your wellness journey. Reaching out for support is often the hardest part, and I’m honored you’re here. My client's are often navigating things like depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and just big life stressors that leave us feeling lost and overwhelmed. I am also passionate about working with the perinatal population—whether you’re in the family planning stages, currently pregnant, or in the postpartum phase where you're surviving off of chaos and coffee (me too). Whatever season of life you're in, you don't have to endure it alone.
I offer individual and sex therapy via telehealth for adults all over Illinois.
My areas of specialization include sexuality and gender exploration and affirmation, building strong and ethical nonmonogamous relationships, addressing anxiety and avoidance, and developing confidence communicating desires, feelings and boundaries.
If you’ve been carrying stress, trauma, or emotional weight that’s starting to show up in your thoughts, relationships, or daily life, it can be hard to know where to start. I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, and the impact of past experiences. You might notice yourself overthinking, feeling easily overwhelmed, shutting down emotionally, or reacting in ways that don’t quite make sense to you. Many of my clients come in feeling stuck but ready to better understand themselves and move forward in a different way.
Feeling truly understood can be life changing, especially when you have spent so much of your life feeling like you have to explain yourself. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, or exploring your identity, therapy offers a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and move toward the life you want to create. I work with adults and couples throughout the Chicagoland area, with a special passion for supporting LGBTQ clients and fellow immigrants as they build healthier relationships, greater self compassion, and a stronger sense of belonging.
Are you tired of carrying things that are just too heavy for you to carry alone anymore? As a licensed professional counselor, I can help you carry that load. In my 12 years as a counselor, I've worked with families, children, adolescents, and adults of all ages in homes, outpatient offices, and online. I have a Ph.D. in counselor education and supervision, and have taught in graduate counseling programs, but my first love is working directly with individuals who are dealing with the effects of trauma, grief, burnout, or anxiety. I am a Christian and would be happy to incorporate your spiritual beliefs, whether Christian or not, into our work together, if desired.
If you're an adult navigating anxiety, depression, or relationship stress — and maybe feeling like
no one quite understands where you're coming from — you're in the right place. I've been
practicing for 15 years across community and clinical settings, working with adults and older
adults on mood, relationships, and the weight of everyday life. I'm bilingual in English and
Spanish, and having lived abroad myself, I genuinely enjoy working with people from a wide
range of cultural backgrounds. You don't have to explain your world to me — I'm here to
understand it.
I have been a therapist for over 20 years and have expertise in depression and anxiety, grief, relationship issues, life transitions, women's issues, and problematic anger. Although I work with people of all faiths and backgrounds, I also enjoy providing faith-based counseling to Christian clients to support them spiritually in treatment. I earned my BA in psychology from Butler University and my MA in Clinical Psychology from Trinity International University. I am curious and teachable, willing to learn from observation and from others. I am a wife, daughter, sister, and mom of three ranging from elementary school to adulthood, with disabilities and chronic illness. I love spending time with my family, good coffee, and taking a walk with a good friend.
I have been a counselor for over 5 years, with over 16 years in the helping field. I completed my Bachelors & Master at LCU in 2020. I completed my clinical licensure in 2022. I have practiced in multiple settings and love meeting people where they’re at.
I primarily work from a EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy). I completed EFCT training in the Summer of 2025.

Depressed, Anxious, Hoping for a Stronger Relationship? Let's get unstuck! I'll work with you to identify and remove the obstacles you have been facing. Through our discussions you'll increase self awareness and learn to act with more intention in your daily life.
If you have been feeling anxious, stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns, frustrated, or weighed down by self doubt, you do not have to sort through it alone. For over 20 years, I have helped individuals, couples, and families work through anxiety, conflict, anger, and self esteem challenges. Hi, I’m Dr. Linda Wickens, a doctoral-level therapist and coach who works with individuals navigating stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, and patterns that keep them feeling stuck while preventing forward movement and growth. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or frustrated that change feels harder than it should.
Therapy and coaching with me are never one-size-fits-all. We work collaboratively to create a plan that is specific to you, your goals, and your capacity, adjusting pace and structure as your needs evolve. I focus on helping clients understand their patterns, build emotional awareness, and develop practical skills they can actually use in daily life.
I hold a Doctorate in Social Work and am a fully licensed clinical social worker, with over nine years of experience in the mental health field. My work integrates evidence-based therapy with a coaching-informed lens when appropriate, allowing sessions to be both supportive and goal-oriented while still making space to explore the past and its impact on the present.
Clients often describe my style as warm, direct, and collaborative. As part of my concierge model, clients work directly with me rather than an assistant, and I remain accessible to my clients outside of sessions through secure communication when needed. I believe growth happens through understanding, compassion, and honest conversation, and that progress is most sustainable when care feels personal, intentional, and consistent.
Please Note: I do not provide couples or marriage counseling. I do not treat adolescents under the age of 21. Additionally, I am not able to treat clients who are experiencing active suicidal ideation or self-harm behaviors. If these services are needed, I encourage seeking a provider who specializes in these areas or contacting appropriate crisis resources if immediate support is required.
