Top therapists in Illinois accepting new patients
I work with women in Illinois who are dealing with anxiety, grief, trauma, and the weight of life transitions — the kind of hard that doesn't always have a clear starting point, and that can feel embarrassing to still be carrying. I don't believe in rushing healing or handing you a worksheet and calling it therapy. What I do believe in: that you already have more insight than you give yourself credit for, and that the right conversation can help you find it. I'm an LCPC practicing entirely via telehealth, so we work together from wherever you are in Illinois.
I am an LCSW, and have been since 2014, and a LMSW for 2 years prior to that. I have a masters degree in Clinical Social work and work with individuals, couples and families. I work with those with anxiety, depression, communication issues, and most issues that we are going through currently.
I began working broadly in this field nearly 30 years ago and became a licensed clinical social worker 20 years ago. Along with completing a masters degree in social work from the University of Illinois, Chicago, I hold a masters degree in fine art in drawing and painting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I believe these areas of study have come to inform my practice in obvious and sometimes less obvious ways.
I began my private practice in 2014 specializing in a harm reduction and moderation as apt responses to problematic substance use, as defined by those seeking my help.
Largely in response to the evolving relationships with my clients and referrals that often came in for friends and family of previous clients, I've come to work with trauma survivors, people identifying difficulty establishing stable relationships in social and professional settings, and people addressing loneliness and mood dysregulation.
With over 30 years of experience, I help adults manage sleep, stress, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. People often describe me as kind, perceptive, with a good sense of humor. My approach combines active listening, mindfulness, CBT, and applied neuroscience. We'll work together to create a plan tailored to your needs to help you focus and move forward with confidence. I'm an LCPC, Board Certified in Neurofeedback, with a certificate in CBT-I for insomnia and other sleep concerns.
With over 13 years of experience and a doctoral degree, I have worked with a wide range of people. Many people who see me now are between 20-50, though I see all adults! I work a lot with depression, anxiety, burnout, and bipolar disorder.
