Kayla, a licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background in community mental health, recognized the profound disparities in access to mental health care within BIPOC communities. Inspired by a vision of creating a space where healing is both inclusive and affordable, she founded Helen’s Project with the belief that everyone deserves access to quality mental health support, regardless of their background or financial situation.Helen’s Project operates on the principle that culturally competent and empathetic mental health care is essential for holistic well-being. The organization collaborates with a diverse team of mental health professionals who not only possess clinical expertise but also understand the unique cultural nuances and challenges faced by the BIPOC community.
Hi! Im Mike Strauss and I specialize in anxiety, PTSD, depression and substance abuse. With my own background as an addict now with 17 years clean and sober, I organically found my purpose as a clinician. What initially started with drug and alcohol counseling immediately turned into something bigger, as I pursued a master’s degree in social work. Understanding that addiction is but a symptom of underlying fears and traumas resulting in mood disorders, I was able to REALLY look at myself as I encourage my clients to do during their journeys toward self-realization.

I've been a licensed LMFT in Sacramento, CA. for over 40 years. My primary education was at California State University, Sacramento, but have received extensive training in other areas that include, but not limited to: PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Domestic Violence, Grief, Family Systems and interpersonal relationships. I have vast experience with diverse populations, cultures within unique mental health settings and situations. Historically I have worked with young children and teens, but my areas of focus have shifted to young adults, afults, and seniors in areas of Depression, PTSD, and interpersonal relationships with individuals and couples.
I became a therapist because I genuinely believe people can heal, and I wanted to be part of that. Six years in, that has not changed.
My path in this field has covered a lot of ground. I started with youth and family work, learning early how to meet people in complicated circumstances and stay steady alongside them. Then I spent nearly three years as a primary therapist in substance use and recovery settings, working with adults navigating co-occurring disorders and the kind of life disruption that comes with addiction. That work sharpened how I show up in a session.
I hold a Master's in Counseling Psychology from National University in San Diego and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I work with adults and couples dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions. I use an individualized approach for each person because no two people arrive with the same history, the same goals, or the same pace. I draw from CBT, DBT-informed techniques, and trauma-aware approaches depending on what the work calls for.
My goal is straightforward: I want you to leave sessions feeling different. Not just heard, but equipped. I want the work to translate into something real in your life.
I offer a genuine, welcoming, and supportive therapeutic space, balancing warmth with a direct and honest approach to help clients create meaningful change. I strive to be understanding and collaborative, meeting clients where they are while supporting growth.
I have over five years of clinical experience working across a variety of settings, including county social programs, community mental health, pediatric hospital- Rady Children’s Hospital, and specialized group practices serving BIPOC communities and children, youth, and families. Currently, I work in a practice focused on supporting children and youth with ADHD and anxiety, as well as parents through parent coaching and family-based care.
I am trained in evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, PMT, TF-CBT, STAND, SPACE, and PCIT, and I tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs and strengths.
I’m an LMFT who uses a psychodynamic, client-centered approach. I help young adults better handle life’s stressors, keep perfectionism in check, and grow their self-esteem. I want to help people feel more connected to themselves and others. I enjoy working with Gen Z and Millennials who are navigating their unique paths in life. I mostly work with anxiety, whether it stems from familial stress (due to filial piety or trauma) or societal pressures (due to gender expectations or political factors). I also work with social anxiety and self-esteem issues.
Hi, I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I offer therapy for adults and teens who are looking for support with life’s challenges—whether it’s stress, transitions, relationships, or just feeling stuck. I’m bilingual in Spanish and have a deep, personal understanding of the Latinx experience, which helps me connect with clients in a meaningful and culturally sensitive way.
I’m trained in EMDR, trauma-informed care, DBT, CBT, and more, and have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family—including my toddler and teenager—going on walks, doing yoga, and enjoying a good matcha.
I believe that we’re all working to do our best and sometimes that is really hard to navigate on our own. I’m here to help you build your awareness, understanding, and meaning within your experience. Our relationship is really important to me and I work to build a safe and trusting environment where you can explore whatever might be holding you back.
